My story

Please contact June Song (JuneS@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Handsome boy seeking fresh start and love! TUCKER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:  Tucker     Best Guess for Breed:  Lab mix     Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of September 2025     SEX:  Male   Approximate Weight:  63 lbs   Gets Along With:  Tucker does well with other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any interested adopters.    Currently Living at:  In the DC area - looking for a foster or forever home!   Special adoption considerations: Tucker was heartworm positive in 2022 but was treated at that time. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, most dogs that were heartworm positive often suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative.  Most heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment - Tucker completed that activity restriction period in 2022. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the screening process.    Tucker is Looking For:  His forever family! This handsome boy arrived into our care in 2022 and was quickly adopted out! Through no fault of his own he now needs a new home. He's eager to once again trot alongside his own humans as a well-loved family companion on all those adventures. But what he wants most of all is to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. What do you say? Will you be the author of Tucker's happy new chapter, in exchange for tail wags, adoring gazes, and unwavering loyalty? What My Foster Said About Me (In 2022, before getting adopted):  Tucker is a very sweet and affectionate dog, who can be both a chill cuddle buddy and an energetic playmate. He's a little shy and skittish at first, but he warmed up to us in just a week(he warmed up really well to our oldest daughter and would follow her around wherever she went!). He could be great for apartment or townhouse living, as he rarely ever barks so far. He's also great with the crate and house trained so far. He's friendly with other dogs and people, and loves going up to whoever's available for but scratches and belly rubs! He has good eating habits, he eats his kibble, and he especially LOVES wet food. Tucker has also been doing well with training and is food motivated. Overall, tucker is an adorable ball of love who loves to cuddle(he will try to climb onto any surface ur sitting on to lie with you, but if you tell him no he understands it), and loves to play(he loves fetch and chasing things), and would benefit from a home who can give him all the love he deserves.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:  The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online HERE .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at  www.luckydoganimalrescue.org .    BE A FOSTER!!!  Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact  fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org ! BE A SPONSOR!!!!  Sponsors help Lucky Dog support the many dogs we save.  To learn more about sponsorship, please contact info@luckydoganimalrescue.org .  September 7, 2025, 12:50 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Tucker, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
