My story

Meet Andwoof Andwoof is a sweet, sensitive pup who’s looking for a patient and understanding home. While he can be anxious in new situations, once he feels safe, his loving and affectionate side begins to shine. He prefers to take things slow, so a calm environment where he can build trust at his own pace will help him thrive. Andwoof seeks comfort from people he trusts — often lying down for gentle petting or rolling over with a tucked tail to show he`s feeling unsure but open. He’s not one for toys (noisy ones especially can spook him), but he absolutely enjoys quiet company and soft affection. He may `pancake` to the ground when overwhelmed, so a family willing to go at his pace will be key to helping him gain confidence. This boy did well in his dog-to-dog intro with a calm, similar-sized female. Though initially submissive, he warmed up with gentle sniffing and calm behavior. Andwoof arrived at the shelter with a female dog around his age (possibly his sibling, Woofian), and while they aren`t confirmed to be bonded, they seem to bring comfort to each other — and would love a chance to stay together if possible! To set him up for success he would do best in a quiet, patient home willing to move slowly and gently. Continued positive socialization and guidance from a trainer. A family intro before adoption (to help set him up for success!) Respect for his space during meals or chew time. Andwoof has a huge heart and is ready to share it with someone willing to see the world through his gentle eyes. It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
