My story

Meet Oat! This sweet, scruffy 1-year-old pup weighs about 17 pounds—and could use a few good meals to fill out his frame. He’s still very much a playful youngster, full of curiosity and joy. Oat knows a few basic commands and is eager to learn more—he’s a people-pleaser through and through. He enjoys moderate exercise and would do well with daily walks and some playtime to keep his tail wagging. Due to his past, Oat can be a little protective over food and high value treats (so we do recommend families with older children), but who can blame him? He likely hasn’t had much before and is still learning to trust that there’s more where that came from. This boy is such a lover. He is a true lap dog and would thrive in a home where he can be the only dog and get all of your attention. He does well with dogs his size or larger but sometimes does not know when to stop. He would love a lap to keep warm and a person or persons to love! Oat will NOT make a good apartment dog at this time, as he does not enjoy his kennel and may annoy the neighbors if left kenneled alone.
