MEET MURPHIE: Age: 8 years  Breed: Yorkie Mix  Weight: 14 lbs   Murphie is a sweet and happy 8-year-old Yorkie mix who is ready to steal your heart! This adorable 14-pound companion was found as a stray, with a registered microchip but sadly his previous owner did not come for him. Now, Murphie is on the lookout for a loving forever home where he can enjoy the comforts and care he deserves. Murphie has a delightful personality and truly enjoys attention from his humans. He is a gentle soul who gets along well with other dogs and doesn’t seem bothered by cats, making him a flexible addition to any pet-friendly home.  Murphie is seeking a quieter environment, preferably with older dog-savvy children or adults only. His calm demeanor makes him a perfect match for those who appreciate a serene home atmosphere. He enjoys playing with toys and is always up for some gentle playtime with his humans or furry friend. Murphie adores being close to his people and enjoys all the love and affection he can get. He is house trained and crate trained, demonstrating that he can adapt well to his new environment. Murphie walks well on leash and enjoys car rides, making him the perfect companion for outings. He takes treats nicely and is motivated by food, which can be helpful for training and bonding. Murphie is a relatively quiet boy who will blend seamlessly into a loving household. He is ready to begin this new chapter and create wonderful memories with a family that cherishes him. Sadly, Murphie has tested heartworm positive. He is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will be happy and healthy in no time! Heartworm is not contagious to humans and providing heartworm prevention protects the health of other fellow canines! We as a rescue have successfully treated dozens of dogs with heartworm with the guidance of our trusted veterinary partners. Murpbie would really like to find a foster-to-adopt home to that will love and care for him while Furever Tails covers the cost of care for her heartworm treatment. He will be scheduled to undergo a series of heartworm injections at one of our partner vets in Clawson, Clinton Twp, Chesterfield following the American Heartworm Society treatment plan. The foster-to-adopt family will need to ensure that the treatment is followed as instructed by the vet, however Furever Tails Animal Rescue is responsible for the financial cost of the treatment. We offer a great support system when it comes to ensure the proper care of these animals and even assisting with getting the dog to their scheduled vet visits. Adoption is not finalized until the treatment is completed and the dogs is deemed medically healthy. Murphie will be scheduled for his first heartworm injection mid December and again in late January. The foster-to-adopt family will be responsible for ensuring that Murphie makes it to his scheduled appointments and follows the doctors orders.
