My story

Romeo is living in a foster home. Please submit an application from our website and/or email dogs@heartlandanimalshelter.org to learn if you are a match! Romeo was surrendered to Heartland due to allergies in the family. His previous owner describes him as a playful, friendly, healthy boy who loves people of all ages! Romeo has been in a home since he was a baby of just 3 months! A rescue based in Puerto Rico took him off the streets, and got him healthy and vetted and ready to fly to the states to a waiting adopter. Sadly they find themselves needing to re-home Romeo, and with his originating rescue being based in Puerto Rico they, and the organization he was adopted from, asked for our help in finding him a new home. Romeo is crate trained and housebroken, although he prefers to use the bathroom on leash walks instead of in the yard. He loves all types of toys, playing in the water, and some peanut butter enrichment! He’s the perfect mix of energetic and affectionate—ready for hikes, backyard adventures, or lazy snuggle sessions on the couch. Romeo’s looking for a family who’ll include him in the fun and help him keep learning as he grows into the amazing dog he’s meant to be. Romeo’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored. This animal is neutered, up to date on core vaccines, and Heartworm negative.
