My story

Meet Teddy. He is the softest, goofiest, sweetest boy you'll ever meet. Puppy Teddy came into SPIN's care at the beginning of December, 2024, after being passed from home to home - not because of anything he did, but simply because no one had the right setup or time for him and he was an energetic, standard poodle puppy. Thankfully, someone finally saw that Teddy needed help and reached out to us. Not surprisingly, given that Teddy was passed from home to home as a puppy, he arrived with some understandable anxiety and uncertainty. Poor guy. Teddy doesn’t express his worry by shutting down or hiding in a corner — instead, he becomes more active and animated, a bit of a whirlwind, so to speak. To support his mental health, SPIN has helped him work through some of his past trauma with a minimal dose of Trazodone. This medication isn’t intended for long-term use; it simply helps take the edge off so he can relax, make good choices, and feel safe. We also made sure Teddy wasn’t experiencing any physical discomfort. When he first came to us, his right front paw turned out slightly, so we had it checked by our vet. Thankfully, it turned out to be a mild hyperextension and nothing to worry about.
