My story

Meet Cheech — The Ball King with a Big Personality! New 2 year old Cheech came to us from Long Beach shelter in the beginning of August. Finally, after a long-awaited appointment for TECA surgery and raising the funds to do so, it happened. Since he has had a long road to recovery and his much-needed TECA surgery, Cheech has officially made it to our Adoption Page! This young Frenchie has been through so much, yet his spirit (and his love for balls) never wavered. Personality & Quirks: Cheech LIVES for his ball — but not fetch! He prefers to play with it his way, making hilarious Frenchie noises that his foster calls “gremlin mode.” He’s a one-dog comedy show, entertaining himself for hours with his giant blue Jolly Ball (which he proudly guards like treasure). He and his foster brother, Louie, have an incredible bond and play beautifully together — Louie learned early on not to mess with Cheech’s prized ball! Special Traits: Cheech is mostly deaf now, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. His foster mom has found that clapping or shaking a maraca is the perfect way to grab his attention. Like most Frenchies, he’s loud in the best way — from snoring to farting to barking and screeching, Cheech’s soundtrack is pure Frenchie charm. Training & Behavior: Cheech is mostly potty trained and fully understands the doggie door. He’s been working hard on learning that sharing is caring, especially when it comes to toys, and he’s very good about communicating his boundaries. He has done great at two social events we have had and lets people especially kids come and play with him. He was great with a younger little one at one event it was like he knew to be gentle! No Cats, Please! Cheech does not do well with cats. He’ll bark and go absolutely wild if he even sees one through the dog gate, so a feline-free home is a must. Medical Notes: Though still young, Cheech required bilateral TECA surgery to resolve chronic ear pain — and he’s thriving post-surgery! He does have allergies, currently managed with Zenrelia, which helps prevent the paw licking and abscesses he develops without it. We hope to taper him off someday or that his future family will be able to, but consistent allergy care will likely remain part of his routine. Ideal Home: Cheech is looking for an active family that can keep up with his energy, humor, and “ball but not fetch” lifestyle. He’ll thrive in a home where playtime, laughter, and patience are part of the daily routine. Ready to Meet Cheech? Apply to adopt this one-of-a-kind, ball-obsessed goofball today at FreedomFrenchieRescue.org — and get ready to fall in love with every snort, screech, and silly face. Cheech is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, his adoption donation fee is $1050.00 and he is located in Tempe, AZ.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Cheech, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
