My story

Kea is a 4-year-old, 81-pound Doberman mix who came to the shelter through no fault of her own. Her family loved her very much, but after facing some hard times, they were no longer able to keep her. The change has been especially difficult for Kea—like many large dogs, the shelter environment has been overwhelming.At her core, Kea is an independent girl who is still adjusting to this new chapter in her life. She’s taking things in at her own pace and will need time to feel comfortable and show her true personality. While she may be reserved at first, she does enjoy gentle affection—especially calm pets on her shoulder, which seem to help her feel more at ease.Kea’s ideal home would be calm, patient, and experienced with dogs who need space and time to open up.
