My story

Meet Bernie! This playful, affectionate pup is having a great time in his foster home and showing off more of his personality every day. Bernie is a people-oriented dog who absolutely loves being around his humans. He’s happiest when he’s nearby — whether that means following you around the house, curling up for cuddle time, or rolling over for one of his favorite things in the world: belly rubs. His foster describes him as a total snuggle bug who thrives on attention and companionship.Bernie has been settling nicely into a daily routine and continues to do well with housetraining. He’s learning that regular walks help keep him on track, and he’s been doing great with consistency. When left alone, Bernie relaxes comfortably in his crate and often snoozes until his people return, greeting them happily and ready for his next adventure. This energetic boy loves getting out and exploring. Bernie recently enjoyed visiting a new trail by a lake, where he had a blast taking in all the sights — especially watching ducks! He also loves walking trails in general and, like many curious pups, is very interested in squirrels and would happily try to chase them if given the chance. After his outings, Bernie often celebrates with joyful zoomies before settling down to relax. On leash, Bernie generally walks well and enjoys exploring his surroundings. When he spots other dogs, he tends to stop and stare with curiosity rather than reacting strongly. He doesn’t pull toward them and is easily redirected to continue the walk. While he hasn’t had direct play interactions with other dogs yet, he appears interested and observant, suggesting he may enjoy canine friends with proper introductions. He has been consistently described as people-loving and affectionate, and he has shown a gentle, intuitive side in the home. When his foster’s son was upset, Bernie stayed close, snuggling and offering sweet kisses to comfort him — a special glimpse into how emotionally in-tune and caring he can be. He would likely do well with respectful children who can match his playful energy.Bernie is a playful pup who loves toys and keeping himself entertained. His current favorite is a neon squishy bone, and he enjoys interactive play. Like many young dogs, he’s still working on playful mouthing, but he is learning with guidance and consistency. He’s also starting to learn new skills — “paw” is currently a work in progress!Overall, Bernie is a fun, affec
