My story

Mama Bear was found roaming the streets in South LA. She had been posted before with little interest and even went missing for about a week. When she was found again, she was laying in the middle of the street and almost got hit multiple times. She wouldn’t let anyone get too close and would growl, but it was clearly fear not aggression. She would gently take chicken from your hand and allowed people nearby, just not too close. We’re not sure what happened to her babies, but a neighbor mentioned they saw someone dumping Mama Bear out of a van and maybe they kept her puppies. Now that she’s safe, she’s completely transformed. She’s letting people pet her, playing with a ball, and rolling over for belly rubs. She also loves going on walks, stops when instructed, waits for you, and doesn't pull at all. She’s truly a sweet girl who just needed safety. We can only hold her for about a week and are urgently looking for a foster or reputable rescue to step in. Spaying will be paid for.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mama Bear, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
