My story

Please read the pet description IN IT'S ENTIRETY before applying.  Thank you for your cooperation. STRAY- NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 3/5/2026:  Bridget - female - approx 4 years old - 14.2 pounds - Shih Tzu Reason for intake:  Bridget was found in the middle of Hwy 3, north of the substation in Benton by a very nice lady named Nicole.  Bridget was in danger of being hit on the busy road as cars were just zipping past and Nicole wasn't about to let that happen.  She contacted us the evening of 3/4/2026 and brought her to us the morning on 3/5/2026.  She had a bandage on her right rear leg that had been removed by the time we got her.  The bandage covered some type of bleeding and seeping wound.  Bridget (what we named her) is in horrible shape... matted, filthy (Nicole bathed her and sent us pictures of the bath water which was almost black).  She did not get in this condition overnight.  We are sending her to our vet TODAY to address the leg wound and get her on some antibiotics.  She'll go back to the vet after stray hold.  We have a few things we need to take care of for her.  We HAVE notified animal control that we have the dog so they can start the legal stray hold.  She is NOT chipped.  If this is your dog, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO RECLAIM HER THROUGH ANIMAL CONTROL, not us.  You will also be required to explain her condition.  There will be fines attached. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings.
