My story

🆘 Urgent Foster or Adopter Needed Rey's current foster will soon need to take in another cat requiring medical treatment, so we are urgently looking for a new foster or, ideally, a forever home for Rey. He has made wonderful progress in foster care, and we would love to ensure he continues to feel safe and loved during this transition. Rey is a healthy, gentle, and very smart 3.5-year-old cat with a calm and observant personality. He enjoys being around people and quietly watching what they’re doing. His peaceful nature makes him a wonderful companion for someone who appreciates a calm, thoughtful cat. Rey was rescued from our partner rescue, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue, an overcrowded shelter where many beautiful and friendly cats sadly go unnoticed. When our team entered the cat room looking for cats who might do well in homes, Rey immediately came over to greet us. He showed curiosity and interest in people, which told us he was ready for a chance at a loving home. Rey is currently being fostered in Manhattan in a home with another cat and two dogs. He has been very brave and is adjusting well to his new environment. He gets along nicely with his foster cat and respectfully lets her be the more dominant one. Rey could happily live with another friendly cat, but he could also be the only cat in a home where he can settle in at his own pace. One of Rey’s favorite things is mealtime. He loves both wet and dry food. At the shelter he only had dry food, so now he gets especially excited when his foster opens a can of wet food—he runs straight to the kitchen as soon as he hears it! Rey especially enjoys gentle scratches behind his ears. Once he feels comfortable, he leans in and enjoys the attention in his own quiet, sweet way. He also loves playing with toys and can jump surprisingly high to catch a wand toy during playtime. Rey is fully vetted, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and health tested. He comes with a health certificate and is ready to start his new life in a safe and loving home. If you think Rey could be the right companion for you, please fill out our adoption application and email us with any questions. We would love to help Rey begin his new life.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
