Why adopt one dog when you can get a pre-assembled, perfectly matched set? Alexi and Shakira are a hilarious duo of bonded husky mixes looking for a new home to call their own. Skills include: excellent conversations, professional cuddling, and advanced architectural engineering (specifically, the operation of L-shaped door handles, which they can open. Be warned, round handles & deadbolts are their only weaknesses.) Other highlights include: 🌲 The Adventure Squad: They are the ultimate trail partners. They love a good outdoor trek! But they're also professional chillers and are happy to play together for a bit and then relax in the house. 🏠 Professional Houseguests: House-trained? Yes. Crate-trained? Absolutely. They’ve been living in a foster home and have mastered the art of being perfect roommates. 💤 Synchronized Snoozers: Don't let the breed fool you—once they get their daily walk in, they have a built-in "off switch." They love to curl up together for epic afternoon naps. 👑 The VIP Lifestyle: Shakira and Alexi are so entirely devoted to each other (and their chosen humans) that they want to be your exclusive crew. They need a home with no other pets and an adult-only environment where they can be the center of your world. They are currently living it up in a foster home, bypassed the stressful shelter environment, and are ready to bring double the love (and double the laughs) to your life. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
