My story

Gronk is sponsored by Danny Flensborg.Hi, I’m Gronk!I’m a strong, handsome pit bull terrier mix with a loyal heart and a sensitive soul. I may look confident and sturdy on the outside, but I’m actually a thoughtful guy who feels things deeply. I can get overwhelmed by a lot of noise and activity, so I do best in a calm, predictable environment where I can relax and feel secure. The shelter has been a stressful place for me. With all the barking, movement, and constant commotion, it can be hard for me to show adopters who I really am. Because of that kennel stress, I’m currently on medication to help me feel calmer and less overwhelmed. I’ll need to continue that medication for a while after I go home, with the support of a veterinarian to slowly and safely taper me off as I adjust to home life. When I’m in a quiet space and given time to settle in, my true personality shines — affectionate, devoted, and happiest when I’m close to my people.Because I’m a sensitive guy, I’m looking for an experienced dog owner who understands canine body language and knows how to help me feel safe. Sudden movements over my head or being startled awake can make me nervous, so I appreciate gentle handling, patience, and people who respect my space when I’m resting.I’m looking for:• An adult-only home• No cats• A calm household with steady routines• A securely fenced yard (I can be a bit of an escape artist when anxious)My shelter friends are also open to a foster-to-adopt situation so I can decompress outside of the shelter and show you who I truly am in a home environment. Once I’m out of the chaos, my loving and loyal side really comes through. If you’re patient, experienced, and believe trust is built with kindness and consistency, I just might be your perfect match.Love,Gronk If you are interested in meeting Gronk, the shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11am – 6pm and Sunday 11am – 4pm.
