My story

Gorgeous Gus seems to have been made for photo shoots and modeling assignments with his luxurious chocolate coat and hazel eyes. He is a 5-month-old Labrador/mixed breed pup who longs for a forever home and family.Gus is one of ten pups who were found near a school building and were rescued by some good Samaritans before they were taken into a southern shelter. Gus weighs 35 pounds and it is estimated he will be a large sized dog (Over 60 pounds) when he is full grown. Gus is a shy guy and needs time and loving attention to warm up to new people and surroundings. He is still a puppy with some puppy curiosity and a bit of noisy attention to anything that is new and different about his surroundings and environment. Dogs and children are welcome to spend time with Gus. It is not known if Gus is comfortable with cats.Gus is one smart pup because he is already house, leash and crate trained. He even knows his basic commands. All puppies and rescue dogs will have accidents as they become accustomed to a new home, family and routines. If crate usage is planned, Gus requires a crate that grows as he does, so it remains big enough for her to stand and turn around in as well as lie down comfortably. Crates should be cozy, happy places for dogs to hang out and must never be used for punishment. Get your camera ready for innumerable photo shoots as Gust grows up ever more handsome and happy to be a permanent member of a loving family.* When considering adoption, keep in mind that dogs thrive on structure and routine. They adjust much better when their owners are committed to providing consistency and stability. The adoption fee for Gus is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. To speed up the process, contact your vet and give them permission to speak with us.If you do not get a response within 24 hours, check your spam folder.May 13, 2026, 8:32 am

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gus, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
