My story

🌸 Meet Poppy – The Little Girl Who Refused to Give Up 🌸 Approximately 3 years old | French Bulldog | Female | Spayed Some dogs survive. Poppy fought her way back to life. Poppy was sitting in a Los Angeles shelter scheduled for euthanasia when Rocky Mountain French Bulldog Rescue stepped in. She was incredibly sick, suffering from severe chronic ear disease, painful untreated medical issues, and later was found to have cancer. At multiple points, this tiny girl was quite literally fighting for her life. Most dogs would have shut down. Poppy somehow became softer. Despite everything she endured — the pain, the neglect, the endless medical care — she remains one of the sweetest, gentlest little souls imaginable. The moment she sees her people, her entire body wiggles with excitement. She follows her humans from room to room simply because she wants to be close to them. Her happiest place in the world is curled up beside you, safe and loved. Poppy has spent months healing physically and emotionally, and today she is finally getting the chance to simply be a happy dog. She thrives on routine and the comfort of quiet companionship. Breakfast is promptly at 8am. Dinner is at 5pm. She loves slow walks where she can take in the world one smell at a time, and she adores toys she can happily chew on for hours. She is incredibly affectionate and never says no to scratches or cuddles. Poppy is also wonderfully resilient. She is still learning potty routines and does best with patience and consistency, but she continues to make progress every day. She’s food motivated, calm on leash, and happiest when she knows exactly where her people are. Her ideal home is calm, loving, and understanding. She would do best as the only pet in a quieter home with older children or adults who understand gentle interactions. She can be sensitive if startled, and after everything she has been through, she deserves a home where she feels safe. Poppy does require ongoing care. She needs regular eye drops throughout the day due to low tear production, continued ear care, and routine oncology follow-ups after having multiple mast cell tumors successfully removed. Her ears may look a little different than a typical Frenchie after years of chronic infections and neglect, but honestly… they are part of what makes her uniquely beautiful. She is not a low-maintenance dog. But she is the kind of dog who changes people. The right person will not see her care as a burden. They will see it as the privilege it truly is — loving a dog who has every reason not to trust the world, yet still wakes up every day full of love, hope, and joy. Poppy has already survived the worst parts of life. Now she deserves the best parts. If you are looking for a loyal companion, a constant little shadow, and a dog who will love you with her entire heart… Poppy is waiting. 🌸

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Poppy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
