My story

* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application. * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 20th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $650 Some dogs enter a room. Madeleine arrives. Whether she's hopping through the house on her long kangaroo legs, making her rounds to greet every living creature in sight, or climbing directly into someone's lap for a cuddle session, Madeleine believes life is better when everyone is included. This 4-5 month old Yorkie mix first came to rescue as a young puppy and was recently welcomed back through absolutely no fault of her own. Now she's searching for the forever family she deserves— and whoever adopts her is in for something special.   Meet the Baby Kangaroo   Madeleine's foster family lovingly refers to her as their 'baby kangaroo,' and one look at her long legs and bouncy hops makes it easy to understand why.   In fact, her foster insists she resembles Nicole Kidman if Nicole Kidman happened to be a tiny blonde kangaroo.   Madeleine doesn't simply walk through the house. She springs. She bounces. She hops from room to room, checking in on everyone and making sure she's not missing out on any fun.   Because for Madeleine, every day is a party and every person is her favorite person.   Professional Greeter, Amateur Personal Space Respecter   From the moment she arrived in foster care, Madeleine has been a social butterfly.   She adores people, loves visitors, and gets excited to meet anyone who crosses her path. Every morning starts with a quick potty break before she begins one of her most important daily responsibilities: waking up the kids.   Once everyone is out of bed, Madeleine happily makes her rounds, handing out kisses and greeting each member of the household as if they've been away for months rather than sleeping in the next room.   She genuinely wants to be friends with everyone.   Humans? Absolutely.   Dogs? Of course.   Cats? She's trying her best.   Cuddles Are Her Love Language   If Madeleine had to choose a career, she would undoubtedly become a professional snuggler.   This little girl has never met a lap she didn't love. If you're sitting down, expect Madeleine to politely suggest that your lap would be improved by adding one small puppy.   She has perfected the art of the gentle paw tap— a sweet request to be picked up so she can settle in for cuddles.   And once she's comfortable? She's staying.   If you lie down on the floor, she'll find a way to drape herself across your neck, stomach, shoulder, or any other available body part. No one is safe from Madeleine's affection.   At bedtime, she's equally committed to physical closeness. Her foster reports that she's an A+ spooner who insists on sleeping near her people. Move her away, and she'll quietly crawl right back. One of her favorite sleeping spots is tucked into the crook behind your knees, where she can stay cozy all night long.   The Perfect Puppy Balance   Like any puppy, Madeleine experiences life in two speeds.   Speed one: zoomies.   Speed two: unconscious.   She spends her days alternating between playful bursts of energy and deep, dramatic naps that would impress a professional sleeper. She enjoys romping around the backyard, wrestling with her canine friends, and exploring her surroundings before seeking out the nearest comfy surface for a recharge.   She also enjoys relaxing in her crate and settles in beautifully when it's time to rest.   Friends of Every Species   Madeleine currently lives with a small dog, a cat, and even a hamster.   The hamster barely registers on her radar.   The resident dog, however, is her best buddy. They wrestle, play, zoom around the yard, and often cuddle together when playtime is over.   As for the cat, Madeleine has enthusiastically offered friendship. The cat remains unconvinced.   Despite this one-sided relationship, Madeleine continues her campaign of kindness and optimism.   She also lives with teenagers and is completely obsessed with them. If there are kids around willing to provide attention, cuddles, and admiration, Madeleine is all in.   Smart, Sweet, and Easy to Live With   Madeleine does an excellent job with her potty habits. She happily goes outside in the yard and also understands how to use potty pads when indoors. She has not had an accident in her foster home since the second day there.   She's crate trained, settles in without complaint, and is generally an easy puppy to have around.   She doesn't dig.   She doesn't destroy things.   She doesn't bark at every passing sound.   In fact, the only time you're likely to hear her voice is during playtime or when another dog has committed the unforgivable crime of stealing her favorite toy.   The only minor trouble she's known to cause? Occasionally smuggling leaves into the house after a backyard adventure.   Her Perfect Home   Madeleine would make a wonderful family dog.   She loves people, thrives on affection, and genuinely enjoys being part of a busy household. Another playful dog would be a fantastic bonus since she loves canine companionship, but her adaptable personality means she could fit into many different types of homes.   Most importantly, she's looking for people who enjoy having a dog close by—a dog who wants to cuddle, participate in family activities, and remind everyone daily that life is meant to be enjoyed.   Why You'll Fall in Love   Madeleine is one of those rare puppies who combines sweetness, confidence, humor, and affection into one adorable package.   She's playful without being overwhelming.   Friendly without being pushy.   Cuddly without ever getting tired of cuddling.   And perhaps best of all, she makes every day a little brighter simply by being herself.   Whether she's hopping through the house like a tiny kangaroo, gathering the family together for morning greetings, or attempting to spoon you into submission at bedtime, Madeleine approaches life with joy, love, and endless enthusiasm.   If you're looking for a puppy who will keep you laughing, cover you in kisses, and happily claim permanent residence in your lap, Madeleine is ready to hop her way straight into your heart. June 17, 2026, 7:40 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Madeleine, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
