My story

Professional cuddler. Amateur mountain goat. Full-time best friend. Abby is a 2-year-old pug mix with a history of brief seizures that are now completely controlled with medication. She currently needs her medication every eight hours, so her forever family must be able to maintain that schedule and continue her veterinary care. Her veterinary team may eventually transition her to a medication given every 12 hours, but adopters should be prepared for her current eight-hour schedule. Now that the important medical information is out of the way, Abby would like to submit her résumé for the position of your new best friend. If velcro dogs are your thing, she is exceptionally qualified. Abby has one main goal in life: to be wherever you are. Making coffee? She’s there. Folding laundry? She’s supervising. Watching TV? She has already claimed her spot beside you—or directly on top of you. Abby is as sweet as they come and loves the company of other dogs. She thrives around other pups and would love a forever home with a friendly canine sibling to help her feel confident and keep her company. Cats? No problem. Chickens? She couldn’t care less. Abby is simply happy to be part of the family. She is still gaining confidence in this big world, and loud noises can make her a little nervous. With patience, reassurance, and another friendly dog by her side, she continues to blossom. Once she trusts you, you’ll have a devoted little shadow for life. Abby is working hard on potty training and is already doing great on a leash. She needs a family that understands she is still learning and will continue providing patient, consistent guidance. A few additional disclosures from Abby’s legal team: * She believes personal space is a myth. * She may insist on sitting in your lap regardless of what you are doing. * She occasionally channels her inner mountain goat and considers coffee tables appropriate climbing equipment. * If a door is open, she may decide it is adventure time, so her family will need to be especially mindful of exits. Abby would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time, she has a furry sibling to snuggle with, and cuddles are considered a daily requirement rather than a bonus. Her family will need to stay committed to her seizure medication, but her condition does not define her. Her seizures are brief and have remained fully controlled with treatment. Abby is still the same goofy, affectionate, people-loving little sidekick who wants nothing more than to be part of your world. If you’re looking for a best friend who will love you with her whole heart, Abby is ready to make herself at home—preferably in your lap.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Abby, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
