My story

My name is O'Reilly, and if you're reading this, I hope it means you're searching for a loyal best friend who is searching for you, too. Before we meet, I'd like to tell you a little about myself and how I got here. My story didn't begin the way most puppies would choose. My brothers and I spent the first part of our lives living in a van with our owner. There were five of us puppies packed together in a small kennel. It was dirty, crowded, and uncomfortable. We didn't have much room to play, stretch, or explore the world the way puppies should. We were underweight, our skin was affected by mange, and we had never seen a veterinarian. At the time, I didn't know life could be any different. Then one day, everything changed. A kind woman from a pet transportation company called Pets to Vets arrived to transport us to a boarding facility while our owner was in the hospital. When she saw us, she immediately realized we needed help. For the first time in our lives, people looked beyond our condition and saw what we could become. The veterinarian at the boarding facility treated our mange and gave us our first vaccinations. We were finally receiving the care every puppy deserves. A few days later, our owner returned and took our mother home, but the rest of us were left behind. That could have been the saddest chapter of my story. Instead, it became the beginning of a better one. The wonderful woman from Pets to Vets refused to turn away. She opened her home and her heart to all of us. Suddenly, I discovered things I had never experienced before. I learned what it felt like to run freely across a yard. I learned how comfortable a clean bed could be. I learned that meals could arrive every day without wondering when the next one might come. Most importantly, I learned that people can be kind. Not long afterward, caring foster families stepped forward to help us while we searched for permanent homes. They quickly noticed something special about my brothers and me. Even though we had spent much of our young lives hungry, we never fought over food. We shared our meals, ate side by side, and often switched places at the bowls as if they all belonged to everyone. Somehow, despite our difficult start, we grew up gentle, trusting, and full of love. That's the kind of dog I am today. I'm a happy, affectionate, easygoing pup who genuinely enjoys being around people. I love attention, tail scratches, belly rubs, and hearing someone tell me I'm a good boy. I enjoy playtime and adventures, but I'm also perfectly happy curling up nearby for a nap after a fun day. The people caring for me often say I have a sweet nature and a calm personality. My favorite thing is simply being included in whatever my humans are doing. My mange is healing beautifully, and my fur is growing back more every day. If you notice lighter patches in my photos, don't worry. That's just my handsome coat making its comeback. I've received veterinary care, vaccinations, a microchip, and I've already been neutered. Thanks to a lot of caring people, I'm healthy, happy, and ready for the next chapter of my life. And that's where you come in. I'm not looking for perfection. I don't care whether you live in a big house or a small one. I don't need fancy toys or expensive treats. What matters to me is having a family that will love me, guide me, and never give up on me. Maybe you're looking for a walking partner. Maybe you need a cuddle buddy on the couch. Maybe your children are hoping for a dog to grow up with. Maybe you're searching for a faithful companion who will greet you like you're the most important person in the world every time you come home. If that's what you're looking for, I think we might be perfect for each other. I've already overcome a difficult beginning, and now I'm hoping for the happy ending every dog deserves. All I need is someone willing to take a chance on me. My name is O'Reilly, and more than anything, I want a family of my own. If you'd like to meet me and learn more about my journey, please email mike@caaronline.org to schedule an appointment. I can't wait to meet the people I'm meant to call my family. With hope, gratitude, and lots of tail wags, O'Reilly ❤️   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt.
