My story

“Hi, I’m Paula… The 10‑Pound Queen of Sass and Snuggles.” From the heart of a pint‑sized girl with a big personality Hi there. My name is Paula, and I may only weigh about ten pounds, but trust me… I am not small. Not in spirit, not in attitude, and definitely not in the way I run my little world. I’m a pug–chihuahua cross, which means I’ve got the perfect mix of adorable squish and spicy confidence. I’m somewhere between 1 and 2 years old, fully grown, and absolutely ready to find the person who will love me forever. I started my journey in Yuma, wandering around as a stray with no one to call my own. Nobody came looking for me, and nobody knew my story. But I kept my chin up and my tail curled, because I knew my future had to be brighter than my past. Now I’m staying at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and I’m hoping—really hoping—that the next chapter of my life begins with you. Let me tell you a little about myself. I may be tiny, but I am fiesty. I hold my own with dogs twice my size, and I don’t let anyone push me around. In fact, I have a buddy here named Bryce—a silly boy who thinks it’s funny to sit on me, steal my treats, or hog all the attention. And let me tell you… I do not let that slide. I let him know, loud and clear, that his behavior is rude and unacceptable. I’m polite, but I’m no pushover. When I first arrived here, everything felt big. The dogs were bigger, the noises were louder, and the world felt a little overwhelming. I was shy, unsure, and trying to figure out where I fit in. But it didn’t take me long to realize something very important: everyone here has treats. And if you ask nicely—maybe with a cute head tilt or a gentle paw—they’ll give you some. I’ve become quite the professional treat‑collector. I’ve also discovered something else I really love: being held. I’m good at it, too. I tuck right in, relax my little body, and soak up every bit of affection you’re willing to give. I may be bold and confident, but I’m also a sweetheart who wants to feel safe and loved. I’m already spayed, microchipped, and current on all my vaccinations, so I’m ready to go home the moment you fall in love with me. And I think you will. I’m small enough to carry, big enough in personality to make you laugh every day, and sweet enough to curl up with you on the couch at night. I don’t need a huge yard or a fancy lifestyle. I just need someone who sees me—really sees me—and says, “That’s my girl.” I don’t know what my life was like before Yuma. I don’t know who I belonged to or where I slept at night. But I know what I want now: a forever home, a soft bed, a human who thinks my sass is charming, and maybe a dog friend who doesn’t sit on me. I want to be your little shadow, your tiny protector, your snuggle buddy, your treat‑seeking sidekick. So… what do you think? Are you ready to meet me? If you’d like to come say hello, the humans here say you can email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I’ll be waiting—ears perked, tail curled, and heart open. Love, Paula Your future 10‑pound queen.   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Do not e-mail us with a request to call you, if you have a question, please ask in the e-mail.   All dogs are adopted on a first come - first served basis.
