My story

Sammy is a one-year-old male cream Husky mix who brings big personality, plenty of love, and a little bit of song into every day. This friendly, playful, and active boy likes to "tell you off" with a howl when he has something to say, making sure his people always know exactly what he is thinking. Sammy is a social, affectionate dog who enjoys men, women, strangers, children, other dogs, and animals. He loves to play with canine friends, cuddle up with his people, and go on walks where he can explore the world. He is especially enthusiastic about squirrels and small creatures, though he has not tried to chase them-he simply celebrates their existence with an excited jump. A smart and eager learner, Sammy already knows sit, off, come, and leave it. He is house trained, crate trained, and can be left alone uncrated, with only rare accidents. He rides well in the car, sleeps soundly on his dog bed in his foster's bedroom, and is welcome on the furniture during the day. He is still working on leash manners, as he can pull and get excited around new people. Sammy would love an active family with a securely fenced yard where he can burn off his energy. Sammy is a good eater with a keen interest in food-and an occasional talent for counter surfing. He will get down when told "off" or "no," but his future family should keep tempting items safely out of reach. He also enjoys collecting paper and shoes, so a little tidiness will go a long way. He can be sensitive at times, especially with loud noises, storms, or when someone touches his tail, and he is learning that gentle guidance and reassurance are always available to him. With his playful spirit, loving nature, and delightfully vocal personality, Sammy is looking for an active home-ideally with a dog sibling-who will appreciate his energy, continue his training, and give him the exercise, structure, and affection he needs. Sammy is ready to bring joy, laughter, and plenty of howling conversation to his forever family. Our adoption fees cover all up to date veterinary needs, including but not limited to: full veterinary examination, age appropriate vaccinations, fecal test and parasite prevention, wellness bloodwork, spay or neuter, and microchip. All dogs will be started on a 6 week trial of pet insurance after adoption. Local adopters can take advantage of 50% off a training course at Ruff Haus in Barrie (www.ruffhaus.ca) and all adopters will also be signed up for Petcademy to offer 30 days of free text-based behavioural support. Please visit our website www.preciouspawsrescue.ca to submit an adoption application.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sammy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
