With the help of a $98,690 grant, Pawmetto aims to complete 1,581 Spay/Neuter surgeries in the Midlands of South Carolina.
The funds will be put to use with four separate month-long spay/neuter campaigns: “Beat the Heat” (female cats), “Summer of Snip (male dog or cat), “Precious not Parents” (puppies & kittens), and “Primp Your Pit” (bully breeds).
“We are thrilled to receive this generous gift from PetSmart Charities,” says Denise Wilkinson, CEO of Pawmetto Lifeline. “This gift will benefit puppies, kittens, cats, dogs, & bully breeds.
Spaying and neutering is the only way we can control the homeless pet population and stop thousands of animals from dying every year in the Midlands.”
“For more than 15 years, we have partnered with Pawmetto Lifeline to help homeless pets in need in the Columbia area,” said Sima Thakkar, regional relationship manager at PetSmart Charities. “The organization’s effort to promote the importance of spaying and neutering pets and promote affordable veterinary services are just a few of the ways they demonstrate their strong commitment and passion for helping pets in need in the community. We look forward to seeing the results of this year’s efforts and thank them for continuing to be an advocate for local pets.”
PetSmart Charities aims to proactively prevent pet homelessness through increased spay and neuter efforts. With the help of animal welfare partners, such as Pawmetto Lifeline, PetSmart Charities has facilitated over 1.7 million spay and neuter surgeries in the U.S. since 2009.
