My story

Lady (ACCT-A-155594) came to ACCT Philly in January 2024 after being surrendered by her owner and was initially reclaimed. She most recently returned to the shelter again in March 2026 after being picked up as a stray, and she’s now patiently waiting for a fresh start with a family who will truly commit to her. Lady is a bright, affectionate, and playful dog who thrives on human interaction. She greets people with enthusiasm—often jumping up to say hello—and shows her friendly nature through soft eyes, wagging tail, and eagerness to engage. Volunteers consistently describe her as sweet, fun-loving, and affectionate, with a particular love for games like tug and fetch. She enjoys being close to her people, soliciting attention, and even sneaking in kisses. Lady already knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and has shown she can be very handler-oriented. Lady will benefit from continued guidance, especially with leash manners, as she can pull strongly when excited. Pulled Hard Yes, I handled the dog. Pushy, a little mouthy Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue Highly treat responsive 03/26/2026 per staff: Leveling to experience gold due to strength of pulling when she decides to pull 03/26/2026 per staff: Met a hyper female husky: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/7MvTx6zZ1zI before him- comes on strong with a tense body. With Spicy she was more relaxed, sniffed, and able to stand near while ignoring 03/25/2026 Per Staff Easy to leash, came right to the front. Avoidant of the leash Pulled Mildly, Jumping on you Yes, I handled the dog. Tried to nibble so i backed off Walked right into kennel and unleashed without issue per volunteer 3/15/26: Happy dog. Loves tug!!! Needs work on leash as she pulls when excited. Notes below are from Lady's prior stay: Per Volunteer 1/31/24: Lady is such a fun... lady! I met her for the first time today and loved how playful she was. She liked chasing balls and met Ditman through the fence. Per volunteer 1/28/24: Lady is the sweetest girl. She was easy to get out and super mellow in the play yard. Girlfriend loves to play fetch and tug of war and is very handler oriented! Lady initiated play with me several times and is super affectionate. She stood next to me watching people and dogs walk by just taking in the scene. This lady is ready for a glow up compete with bath and mani pedi and a warm quiet place to recover from her doggie cold. Any home would be lucky to have her! 1/23/24 per staff: Lady walked well until she saw a community cat and pulled. No issues returning to kennel. 1/23/24 volunteer notes: I took Lady for a short walk and she did pull a bit on the leash so a harness would probably work best for her. In the play yard she sniffed around and chased and retrieved the ball a few times. She knows sit and would take treats nicely. She jumped up to sit beside me and solicited pets and attention and gave some kisses. She allowed and enjoyed all over pets. She is a sweet pup who deserves a fresh start. 01/23/2024 per staff Lady added to playgroup today. Neutral body at gate, came in and greeted two males. Tolerated humping but gave small correction (no teeth or growling, just a sudden turn around). Engaged in play with Helix, more rough and tumble. Corrections for humping appropriately 01/11/2024 per staff 1/11/2024 dogs friendly, able to leash better with females, but good so far 3/12/26 9:00pm per staff Dog is very friendly, will jump on you, very excited, tail mid wag, ear back, soft eyes.
