There is an adorable video of me on social media! Click here to experience the cuteness! On my #BoroughBreak, we.. went for a nice long walk around Ridgewood and Bushwick! We stopped for breaks in the parks, where we had lots of cuddles and treats. Zion is very well trained, and is able to sit and shake! He was not reactive when seeing other people or dogs and did not bark once. His favorite thing to do was lean against us and get lots of head rubs!Zion is a big-hearted, 8-year-old mixed breed with a love for adventure and human companionship. He came to us as an owner surrender after spending his life with two adults. Now, he's looking for a forever home where he can thrive with structure, patience, and love.My Ideal Home:Zion would do best in an experienced, adult-only home that can provide a stable environment with positive reinforcement training. A house with a secure yard would be ideal to help manage his energy and minimize his reactivity to other animals. He'll need an adopter who can work on his leash manners and help him build confidence.Good with Kids?Zion would do best in a home without children under 13. His energy level and tendency to jump up could be overwhelming for little ones.Good with Other Dogs?Zion prefers to be the only dog in the home. He has shown reactivity toward other dogs and is not a candidate for dog parks or off-leash playgroups.Leash Manners:Zion is a strong boy who needs guidance on the leash. He may lunge when he sees dogs, cats, or fast-approaching strangers. He will benefit from structured leash training and positive reinforcement techniques to improve his walks.Overall Health:Zion is a healthy, food-motivated senior who still has plenty of energy. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and mental enrichment will help keep him happy and fit.Behavior Determination:Zion is a Level 3 behavior dog, which means he'll thrive in a home with adopters who understand how to manage his excitement, jumping, and on-leash reactivity. He may need additional training to address separation anxiety and basic manners.A volunteer writes: We have the ultimate snuggly teddy bear up for adoption. Zion is an 8 year old handsome, affectionate, and irresistible man. Zion came to us when his owner did not want to care for him anymore. Zion has been gentle taking snacks, and we have all noticed he enjoys sitting on laps! He appreciates belly rubs and head rub. He had lived with his previous owner for 6 months, and we aren't sure what the previous 8 years entailed. He did spend time around kids of all ages and did well with them, but prefers to keep space from other animals.
