My story

Meet Billywig — an affectionate, energetic guy with a fun personality and so much potential! At 3 years and 7 months old and 42 pounds, Billywig is full of enthusiasm and curiosity. He comes out of the kennel excited and ready to go, eager to explore the world around him. On leash, Billywig pulls and will need continued work on his leash manners, but he’s a great size to handle and responds well to guidance. He gets especially excited when passing other dogs, pulling harder to check them out, but his body language stays loose and friendly with happy tail wags rather than reactivity. Billywig hops right into the car and is always up for an adventure, though car rides can make him anxious. He may bark, whine, and try to move up front, so he’ll need a secure, sturdy tether to keep him safe. With time and consistency, he does begin to settle and will continue to build confidence. In public settings, Billywig really shines. He is friendly and social, happily greeting people and doing well meeting children. He has nice manners in structured environments—he can settle, walk more calmly, and even sit patiently while waiting. He knows “sit,” takes treats gently, and enjoys affection and snuggling with his people. While he may not be interested in every treat, he values connection and is eager to bond. Billywig is also quite athletic and has shown he can climb a 6-foot chain link fence, so he will need a secure setup such as a privacy fence or supervised outdoor time. Overall, Billywig is a loving, playful dog who just needs a patient, understanding home to help him feel safe and confident. With guidance, structure, and time, he has all the makings of a loyal and devoted companion. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
