My story

Orbitz is a victim of BDS. That's right, Black Dog Syndrome. Black dogs are often overlooked in shelters because they're harder to photograph, blend into kennel environments, and are unfairly linked to negative stereotypes—like being aggressive or unlucky. These myths sadly make it harder for wonderful dogs to find homes. Orbitz is here to say why he should be NOTICED! He is a great balance of active and affectionate, ready to join in on walks, hikes, or car rides, while always happy to chill when it’s time to unwind. Orbitz has even been paddle boarding and was a natural! He regularly has sleepover at the Smíšek Residence and gets along with all 6 of their dogs, big and small! Orbitz has been welcomed into several loving homes through our two-week Frosted Fling program. Each Fling has helped him grow, learn, and show off what a wonderful companion he can be. His most recent family shared this heartfelt update: "Orbitz is the sweetest boy and is so eager to please. At home, he is the perfect companion – so loving, gentle, and sweet. He loves hikes, neighborhood strolls, food puzzles, and training games. Orbitz is house-trained and not at all protective of his food – I could pet him while he ate without issue. While having a bath wasn’t his favorite thing, he was a very sweet boy while getting shampooed and having his paws touched. He even lets me wipe down his paws after a muddy walk with no fuss! Orbitz would be the perfect work-from-home buddy or an awesome companion for a retiree. He thrives on being close to his people. Having a forever home with a yard would be great, too! Orbitz is a lovey, sweet boy. Even though he is a big pup, all he wants is to snuggle in your lap! He will press his face into your hands when he wants love.
