Dominic is currently in RI and looking for a 'furever' home! From rags to (hopefully) riches, Domenic’s story is one of survival, resilience, and unwavering love. Once unwanted and abandoned, he suffered unimaginable cruelty—shot in the back leg and left to starve. Finally brought to a shelter, he faced the unthinkable once more, landing on the euthanasia list. But rescue saw his light and gave him a second chance. Now, Domenic is ready for his true happily-ever-after. Despite his past, he holds no grudges—only love for people. He adores stuffed toys, so be prepared to have a house full of them! He walks with a limp from his old injury, but that doesn’t slow him down one bit. Domenic enjoys the company of other dogs but doesn’t always pick up on their cues, so he’d likely thrive best as the only pup in your home, soaking up all the love and attention. His forever home—and his well-earned “king of the castle” life—are out there. Will you be the one to give Domenic the love and security he’s been waiting for? If you are interested in adopting this dog please complete the adoption application at www.rhodehomerescue.org/adoption-form to become a pre-approved adopter. If you were already approved through Rhode Home Rescue within the last 6 months, contact us today! Be sure to check our Facebook page "Rhode Home Rescue" for details on upcoming events and other announcements. Dominic would be great as an only dog but could very well live with other dogs as long as an adopter is willing to put in the time and training for them to be successful! With Dominic's limited exposure to other dogs while in the shelter he missed out on learning dog cues during play and interaction. He however does incredible on walks with other dogs. He walks well on the leash, is housetrained and sleeps well in the crate at night. During the day he stays in the crate where it takes some time for him to settle but he will settle eventually. His fosters will give him a frozen Kong treat for him to have and that has helped. He loves to cuddle and meet new people. He has the 'wiggle butt' down to a science and it is really exciting to see just how happy he is meeting new people...men, women, kids he loves them all! Dominic also really really loves toys!! Hard ones to chew on or soft ones to destroy he is always walking around with a toy in his mouth tail wagging!! Dominic can be a little mouthy when he gets overly excited but there's no ill intent about it! He also loves treats and takes them gently.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dominic Newberry, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
