My story

Meet Golddigger! Little Golddigger (or Goldie) came to us from Bonita Shelter on January 18th. She is estimated to be 12 years old, weighs 9 lbs., and is very sweet. Goldie is great with cats and other dogs. She is an amazing walking buddy and has the energy & stamina of a younger dog. Goldie has been on two Frosted Flings (and is currently on a third.) These short-term foster situations have helped us learn a lot about her in a home environment while she has received lots of extra TLC! We have learned that Goldie does so much better in a calm home environment rather than on-site. For this reason, we would love to place her in a long-term Foster home while she waits for her forever family. Goldie does need a bit of special care, but as her Fling Mom explains, a routine, patience, and love makes it very manageable. "Goldie has stolen my heart. She does have some mild dementia, though the only sign is a bit of pacing in circles. I’ve been trying various CBD products to help with her anxiety, which seems to be dementia-related, and I can already see a positive difference in her behavior. She’s much more relaxed now, especially in a home environment. Goldie was an excellent passenger on the car ride home—she slept the whole way, cozy and calm. She hasn’t barked once since I brought her home and shows no signs of separation anxiety. When I leave her, I keep her in a small, closed-off space just for her, and she’s fine with that—no whining or barking. Goldie gets along well with my mini Schnauzer and has no issues with any other dogs she meets on our walks. Even my cats don’t faze her; she doesn’t react to them at all. She’s a little foodie and loves almost anything I offer, with peanut butter being her absolute favorite treat. Goldie enjoys her outdoor time, happily wandering around and sniffing, though she’s not interested in doing her business outside. I think she may have come from a hoarding situation or simply wasn’t taught to go outside. At home, she either wears a diaper or uses pee pads—though she needs the whole area covered since she doesn’t seek out the pads herself. Right now, she’s settled in the kitchen, where she’s in the middle of the action with the most exposure to humans and my dog. She loves to bury herself under her covers, sleeping a lot during the day—and so far, all night long, too! Goldie is very sweet and lets you pick her up without a problem. She doesn’t try to bite, though she isn’t fond of being held for too long. She wasn’t thrilled with her bath but eventually accepted it. Since most of her teeth are gone, if she did try to bite, it wouldn’t be a concern. Goldie is a shy, frightened little girl, but she’s a real sweetheart once she knows you’re not a threat. She needs someone with patience and time to help her adjust, but she’s really quite easy once she settles in. I’m hoping there’s someone out there who can offer this sweet senior girl a safe, loving home for the remainder of her life. Her special needs may seem daunting at first, but with some minor adjustments, she’s a joy to have around." If you feel a calling to be the very special family Golddigger needs, please email placement@frostedfacesfoundation.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Golddigger, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
