My story

Donations being accepted for his care Hi, I’m Theo — formerly Buttersquash! Currently in foster care and finally ready for my forever home! Wow… what a journey I’ve had. I’m just about 2 years old, neutered, up to date on all my shots, and safe now — but it wasn’t always this way. I was rescued from a kill list after suffering some really terrible abuse. My rescuers say it must have been really bad based on how scared I was. But thanks to kind, patient foster care, I’ve learned that not all people are bad. It just takes me some time to trust my rescuers are surprised how I like people. I had a house friend who I loved to play with, but he got adopted. Now it’s my turn. I still struggle with anxiety. The vet? I hate it and need sedation (but hey, I’m not the only dog who does!). I have dry eye that needs daily meds — I’m not good at taking them. I even let my foster mom shave me, because I’m learning that gentle hands are safe. Once I trust you? I’m a ball-playing machine. I love laps — on my terms, of course. I’m slow and steady, but if you go at my pace, I’ll blossom. No kids (I can nip out of fear), and no cats. I need a calm, patient, experienced home — someone who understands I’m still healing and will continue to need love and structure. &#226&#143&#179 You may need to meet me a few times before I’m ready to go home with you — but I promise, I’m worth it.
