Please check here for updated adoption hours. What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!It is unknown if I have ever lived with other animals or children.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.Bendito was at the front alert and curious and allowed petting with pupils that dilated somewhat and the tail that was a little bit swishy, but he never overstimulated, enjoyed treats, allowed petting all over his body and was fairly calm when picked up and held and set back down. He wasn't particularly interested in petting and appears to be somewhat independent. Bendito tolerates attention and petting but was previously fearful or stressed in the shelter. He will likely need time to warm up to his new home. Bendito had a bite/scratch incident with staff during cleaning and feeding time (see potential challenges comments above for more details). Due to the behavior shown, he may not be a great fit for young children. Any home with older children prepared to adopt this cat should conduct a thorough interaction and endeavor to monitor this cat around their children to prevent these behaviors from being reinforced. We recommend that he go to a home with some cat experience preferred or at least be well counseled in fearful cat behavior.A volunteer writes: Effervescently trusting with that life of the party energy, Bendito is known to see kindness and hope for the best. You see, snuggly little Bendito was found outside and tried to follow some new friends inside their apartment. Interpreting their care and thoughtfulness as an invitation was the best move because his stunning persistence and good nature has brought him here. When I first met Bendito, he came right to the front like he had something very important to tell me. What were these important things? Pets and headbutts! Bendito is all about them! Settling in for cuddles and snuggles, while also looking out at his neighbors, I felt like Bendito was sharing the friendliest who's who in Adoptions. We don't know much about Bendito's history prior to coming to the Care Center, but he has charmed his new friends and hopes to find his family soon! Primary Color: Gray Tabby Weight: 12.7 Age: 4yrs 7mths 1wks
