My story

Say hello to Marco! Marco is a male Pointer/hound mix that weighs around 55 pounds and is approximately 1 year old. Marco was found in the Metroparks with adoptable dog Polo and both were brought to the shelter. No one claimed him. Marco was very dirty, thin, and not in the best of health. After a few weeks at the shelter with some good food and TLC, Marco has come out of his shell and is full of love and happiness now. He would benefit from having a patient adopter who will continue to socialize him to the world and everything in it. Marco is dog friendly. In fact, Marco is currently in a foster home with a shelter volunteer and her female dog that is of similar size to Marco. As always, a meet and greet with any resident dog is required to make sure everyone gets along. Marco will need help with leash manners because he can pull a little on leash. He has a medium energy level. Once in a home, we believe that Marco will turn into a different more confident dog. Marco will do anything for food so training and socialization should be a breeze. Marco absolutely loves his time with the volunteers even if it is just sitting on a park bench. Marco is also crate-trained. He can jump a 4-foot fence so either a tall privacy fence or continued supervision outside will be required. Compatibility with children and felines is unknown. He is available for adoption. He is neutered, microchipped heartworm negative and up to date on all vaccines. Please email dogadoptions@parmashelter.org and fill out an adoption application online to meet Marco. Marco’s adoption fee is $160. Marco is one smart cookie, he just needs continued training and guidance. He will make someone very happy.
