My story

Hi!  I'm Asher and here is some info about me:  *New pics of me added!* Breed: Hound / Labrador Retriever mixAge: 9 monthsGender: MaleWeight: 28 lbs / 12 kgHeight: TBDCountry of origin: MexicoHighlights: Energetic, gets along with humans, other dogs and kids, playful, young and trainable, sweet soulful blue eyes When I was just a tiny pup, my brother Paxx (aka Oakley) and I were abandoned in the hills of Puerto Vallarta. Scared and unsure of what to do, we were lucky that kind locals noticed us in our time of need and reached out to an amazing animal advocate. She made sure we had the food, water, and vet care we needed to get healthy again. While she couldn’t take us into her home, she found us a safe place at a shelter in Guadalajara, where we now live with other dogs in care. I’m a friendly, social boy who gets along great with people (including kids) and other dogs. At just 9 months old, I’m full of playful energy and would love an active home where I can go on walks, hikes, or have a yard to run around in. Whether it’s a game of fetch or just exploring the world by your side, I can't wait to find my person/people and feel safe.  I haven't experienced snuggles on a couch or bed yet, but that sounds so comfy! My brother Paxx and I have been together through it all, and while it would be wonderful if we could stay together, the most important thing is to become a part of a loving forever home (for both of us).  We're keenly adaptable and eager for the next chapter of our lives.  I’m ready to leave the past behind and start my next adventure—could it be with you? Energy level: Medium to highI get along with:Dogs: YesCats: NoKids: Yes Fears: None observed. Somewhat unsure of passing cars during walks due to my time living on the streets without protection.  I'm a young pup, please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: I'm getting used to walking on a leash when the shelter staff/volunteers find time to take me out. I respond to basic commands (in Spanish) such as "sit", "lay down", "give paw".  Please be prepared to continue training me-- learning English won't take me long!House-trained: Unsure, currently in a shelter environment. Please help me continue to learn! Health notes:I have been neutered & vaccinated. LAL will pay for my microchip. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be charged the passenger fee in addition to this. ##2338650##
