Meet Kobe! This handsome dude is 2 years 8 months old and looking for his fur-ever home. Kobe's original owners had to rehome him when they moved and couldn't bring him along; sadly, he was brought to the shelter as a stray just two days after he was rehomed. While Kobe has had a rough time lately, he thinks his adorable ears and winning personality will get him out of the shelter in no time! A little bit about Kobe: he's a big goofball who truly loves every person he meets! In his previous home, Kobe was noted to be fully crate trained and mostly housebroken, and his owners described him as "funny and loves to play a lot." When it comes to toys, he LOVES bones, chew toys, stuffed animals, balls, and squeaky toys - just give him any toy and he'll keep himself busy! Kobe also enjoys exploring outside, running and jogging with his owner, and playing interactive games like tug-of-war and fetch. Kobe previously lived with kids under 9 years old and was very good with them. Kobe's original owner let us know that he has mixed feelings about other dogs, so further meets will be conducted to see how he interacts with his fellow canines. When asked what Kobe needs to work on, his owners said he has a TON of energy and sometimes gets overstimulated; Kobe would likely thrive in an active environment where he can get tons of exercise and enrichment to keep him busy. Kobe has also had some issues with "marking" with urine, but we expect this behavior to greatly improve as soon as he is neutered. Most of all, though, Kobe just needs a loving and patient home where he can get all the attention and exercise a young guy like him needs. Don't wait - come meet Kobe at ACCT Philly today! VIDEO: Kobe knows sit: https://youtube.com/shorts/aPx9Yo9cWUE?feature=shared BEHAVIORAL INFORMATION Kobe's original owner stated they have owned him since he was 4 weeks old, but were moving and unable to keep him. Kobe lived with adults 26-59 years old, and kids 4-9 years old. He lived indoors and was noted to be mostly housebroken but occasionally have an accident inside; however, he is fully crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. Kobe was noted to be super high energy and pull a little on his leash sometimes; his owner noted they would take him on one walk per day, usually for about 15 to 20 minutes. Kobe enjoys eating any dog biscuit or chewing bone as a treat. Kobe knows Sit, Down, Lay down, Off, Wait, Stay, Leave it, and responds to his name. He likes to play with bones or other durable chew toys, stuffed animals and plush toys, balls, and squeaky toys. He also likes to spend time exploring outdoors, playing tug-of-war, playing fetch, and running/jogging. Kobe has never bitten or attempted to bite a person or animal; his owners noted his only behavioral issues are having too much energy/getting overstimulated, and "marking" things with urine. Kobe is usually very friendly with strangers and children, but he has never been around cats and can have mixed reactions towards other dogs. However, he has never behaved aggressively towards another dog. Kobe's owners described him as a funny dog who loves to play a lot, and hope that he can find a new family that "has a lot of time and patience since he is a very active dog, and a loving home. 04/14/2025 per staff: Kennel Presentation - Kobe was at the front of his kennel with soft red eyes and a high wagging tail. He was very easy to leash, as he sniffed the leash while I secured him. He came right out once fully secured. Leash skills - Pulls strongly on leash. Once he went to the bathroom he pulled moderately. No reactivity as dogs were passing by. Handling - In the room, Sail was curious about me, sniffing my legs and feet with a mid level wagging tail. He allowed me to pet the top of his head while he did and then leaned his entire body weight into me. Sail reacts like a cat, rubbing and pushing his head into you for affection. He is pretty laid back as well, laying down next to me and rolling over while I was writing his eval. He never showed the high energy he had in the kennel while he was outside, and remained timid and calm. He is a very sweet boy, allowing all handling and sitting very patiently. He did not take any treats or show any interest in play or toys. Play - No interest, walked over to me while i ran around and rubbed his body against mine. Toys - No interest, sniffed and quickly walked away. Color level and recommendations - Experienced gold due to history of dog reactivity. 04/13/2025 per staff: He's friendly and extremely hyper. Will allow pets and jumps everywhere. Finder stated he may be dog reactive. Was hard barking at other dogs in the car outside of intake. 04/13/2025 per finder: "Friendly, playful. Friendly [towards children], good [with other animals]." MEDICAL INFORMATION Kobe's 4/14 intake exam noted that his eyes and nose were a little bit red, possibly due to stress. He was found to have minimal staining on his teeth, with moist pink gums. His coat and skin appeared clean. He was found to be an intact male. Kobe was noted to be BAR and very energetic throughout his exam. He received his rabies, DHPP, and bordetella vaccines at this time as well as a topical flea/tick preventative and dewormer.
