My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog I:1Meet Hachi — a handsome, gentle giant with a heart as big as his paws! At 2 years old and a solid 93 pounds, Hachi is a gorgeous German Shepherd mix who’s looking for a home that appreciates his strength, smarts, and sweet spirit. Hachi has a soft side that’s already shining through — he’s treat-motivated, knows “sit,” walks fairly well on leash, and takes treats very gently for such a big boy. Out in the yard, he’s all about sniffing, exploring, and checking in for a snack or a pet. He’s tolerant of handling and has shown himself to be polite when meeting other dogs, though he prefers a calm, steady approach to new friends. This independent, forward-but-gentle guy would love an adopter who understands large-breed dogs (especially Shepherd types!) and can continue working with him on basic obedience, structure, and confidence. Hachi would likely do best with adults or families with older children who can help keep his routines positive and consistent.
