My story

Diesel is an energetic and friendly adult dog. At 97lbs, he is a big boy and an absolute darling. Diesel came to the shelter due to his previous owners experiencing pet housing restrictions where they lived. According to his previous owner, Diesel is excellent at using the bathroom outside the home, has experience with crate-training, and he even knows a few commands! What is not to like? Diesel previously lived with a small child and was reportedly “very gentle, and playful” with the two-year-old in the home. Diesel’s favorite things include squeaky soft toys, balls, chicken flavor treats and bones. Diesel’s previous family sang his praises and said that he is “gentle with people and kids, very sweet and loving”. Diesel is a high energy and very intelligent dog who would do well in a home willing to give him the exercise and mental stimulation he needs to thrive. Diesel loves walks and can be a bit of a puller on the leash as he is so strong. His previous family said he is good with other dogs and Diesel had a pleasant interaction with a dog here at the shelter. If you have another doggy family member, we highly recommend bringing them to the shelter to meet Diesel and see if he is a good fit for your pack!This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!Be sure to check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
