Smoky's Personality Smoky is a whirlwind of energy wrapped in a soft, purring bundle of affection. He's bold and curious and loves everyone he meets. Smoky is always up to something—batting at dangling strings, launching surprise attacks on unsuspecting toys, or exploring every nook and cranny of his foster home. Smoky even occasionally brings toys back to you if you throw them (as if to play catch!). He has a quirky love for water and loves to drink fresh water from the faucet! Despite his silly antics, Smoky is a total cuddle-bug at heart. He loves being on your lap and is happy to snuggle with you for hours if you let him. Smoky also loves curling up in your arms, purring his little motor, and showing affection with his signature loving licks. When rescued, Smoky had a badly damaged right eye from a old trauma. So his right eye had to be surgically removed. But this hasn't slowed Smoky down one bit - he runs, jumps and plays just like any other playful kitty. With Smoky around, every day is filled with laughter, playtime, and the sweetest cuddles. What Type of Home Smoky Needs Smoky must be adopted into a home with a young, like-minded cat buddy to bond and play with. He's very active - always on the go. For a male cat his age, he's very small and will likey remain a small cat (at 10 months of age he weighed just under 7 lbs). We usually pair males with males, and females with females, because gender influences size and style of play (with males typically being bigger, stronger, faster and engaging in rough play). However, given his small size, Smoky may be compatible with either a male or female cat buddy. He also needs a home where people are around to give him love, affection and playtime. Smoky would do great with a family with kids old enough to know how to interact with an energetic kitty. We have not seen him interact with dogs but he would likely be ok with a cat-friendly dog. Where Smoky Came From Smoky was found outdoors, sick and injured and needing immediate vet care. With no homes close by, we sadly think he was abandoned. Smoky literally ran up to the person who is fostering him then followed her to her car and jumped right in. Lucky for Smoky, she wasn't about to leave him outside to fend for himself.PLEASE NOTE: we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA.
