My story

Meet Kokomo, affectionately known as Koko, a sweet and gentle 1-year-old Pit Bull Terrier who has overcome more than her fair share of challenges. Koko spent the early part of her life tied to a tree, enduring neglect and hardship, until she was seized by animal control and brought to the shelter. The stress and anxiety of the shelter environment took a toll on her, and it quickly became clear that she needed a safe, loving place to heal. That's when the shelter reached out to us at Dogs Deserve Better Blue Ridge, and we were happy to step in and help her find the loving home she deserves. Since coming into our care, Koko has made remarkable progress in her foster home. Though she can still be a little nervous in new situations, Koko has shown a brave willingness to try new things, even when she feels uncertain. She thrives with other dogs and bonds with new canine friends almost immediately. Whether it's a good chase or a wrestle session, she's always up for some fun with her doggy companions. Koko also loves her toys, especially balls, and enjoys playtime with her foster siblings. Koko is cat-friendly and would do best in a home with a confident cat who is okay with her friendly greetings. She is also people-oriented and, while she may be cautious at first, once she knows you, she will love you deeply. Koko loves to snuggle and will often crawl into your lap, resting her head on you for a cozy, quiet moment together. This beautiful girl has a heart of gold and is truly a diamond that has been overlooked. Koko is ready to find her forever family, and we know she will be a loyal, loving companion for the right person.
