My story

Come on vamanos, everybody let's go to ACCT Philly! Meet Dora, a sweet girl but shy at first, hesitant of new people who come to her kennel door. Dora warms up with time and treats but seems to be a 'chill by your side' kinda gal. She enjoys sniffing around and so far at the shelter she hasn't solicited much one on one handling. She's a laid back gal who loves to explore her surroundings! Dora is now exploring the world of adopters for her forever someone. Meet her at ACCT Philly any day from 10am-6pm! Video: Quasi, Dora, Cocoa https://youtu.be/zeWq1QeHhqQ Dora and Cocoa meet https://youtu.be/QL2AUq-re40 Behavior: Per Volunteer 6/16/25: She was sleeping on her bed when I approached and calmly got up and walked over when I made a noise. Very easy to leash and great on leash as well. Out in the play yard she was pretty low energy, but she is sick so I’m not sure if that’s her usual energy level. Spent most of the time sniffing around. She came to me and took pets and seems to really love but scratches. Take treats pretty gently, but doesn’t seem very motivated. Neutral with me for most of the outing- she just wanted to explore the play yard! Walksheet as of 6/13/25: Dora was walked multiple times between June 10th and June 13th. On June 10th and 11th, she was marked as having moderate issues on leash and being very scared of the leash initially, but warmed up outside and enjoyed being petted. She had low energy and no issues noted with shyness, mouthing, or jumpiness. By June 12th and 13th, she continued to show low energy with no significant behavioral concerns listed. Although initially hesitant, Dora showed improvement once outside the kennel. Play group 6/10/25: barrier reactive throughout the kennels and during the gate greeting at play group -- good for drop leash meetings. Dora was steerable and very stiff so we muzzled her (also due to her reactivity in kennels). she was biting through the gate and went into the yard very conflicted. she was stiff without the muzzle and was necking a couple of dogs. she was awkward but very tolerant with the other dogs. with more time she started engaging in play. Per Staff 6/10/25: BEHAVIOR EVALUATION: Dora KNOWN HISTORY: Stray KENNEL PRESENTATION: Dora was at the front with soft eyes and a high wagging tail. She was difficult to leash, running away from the lasso. She needed a slower approach so I opened the door wider and called to her, slowly looping the leash around. Once secured she came right out. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally – high tail, hackles raised, growling and lunging towards dogs Accidentally met a small dog and was unreactive, sniffing him curiously as the other small dog was growling at her HANDLING : In the room, Dora relived herself and came over to me with a neutral body. I sat down in the chair and she sat right in front of me allowing all handling. She was very soft and gentle, not soliciting but accepting all pets. She took treats very gently and knew sit. She was very timid and relaxed, exploring whenever I was standing and sitting on my feet whenever I sat down. PLAY: No interest TOYS: No interest COLOR LEVEL & ANY RECOMMENDATIONS: Exp. gold Per Staff 6/9/25: Greeted me in an excited manner when I approached her kennel. Wiggly, fast wagging tail, ears perked, paws up on kennel door. Per Staff 6/9/25: scared/anxious, less is more, bear hug, muzzle is not good for her! loves treats and takes them gently. checked dog in same day it was TTA. she is sweet loves attention and getting brushed. Per Staff 6/9/25: TTA due to P exhibiting a high level of anxiety/fear. P was panting heavily with whale eye for the duration of her exam and was very timid, flinched a lot, had her ears back, and was stress peeing in dog intake.
