My story

Nova is a 10 month old, VERY active female Italian greyhound. She is absolutely gorgeous! She is curious about everything and interacts with everyone she has met in a very friendly, excited way and will even crawl in a stranger‘s lap and go to sleep. She gets along really well with her foster mom’s young, playful Italian greyhounds but likes to bother the older IG a little too much. She is still very much a puppy so likes to chew on anything but can be redirected easily. She is about 90% potty trained to go outdoors in the fenced yard with only occasional accidents when let out frequently. At this time she does not use potty pads. She does walk well on a leash and enjoys walks. She can run like the wind and requires space and a fenced yard to exercise and get her energy needs met. She sleeps in the human bed with the other dogs and her foster mom and settles down to sleep immediately at bedtime. She kennels well when her foster mom is away from the house for a few hours for her safety. Her favorite thing is playing hard and then curling up on her foster mom‘s lap for a nice long nap. Her treat ball for enrichment is very loved and she would love other mental enrichment activities like treat puzzles, etc. She would love a home with another young, playful and small dog. to keep her engaged and a home where she isn't left alone for long hours. She will need lots of playtime and activity. She is too playful and too much and bothersome for older dogs or dogs who are not interested in a play mate. She was very well loved and care for in her previous home; it sure shows in her loving and outgoing personality. However she was too much for the adult dog in the home. She will need a family who is committed to providing her exercise and stimulation and limiting risk factors for leg breaks. Unfortunately, young IGs are more prone to leg breaks. She’s up-to-date on all her shots and is spayed and microchipped, and on heartworm preventative. Nova is fostering in Des Moines Iowa. If you are in Iowa or Nebraska or eastern South Dakota and interested in adopting, PLEASE EMAIL US AT: NEIGRESCUE@GMAIL.COM. If you are in our area and would like to fill out an application to adopt, please visit Midwestigrescue.com and fill out an online application. NOTE: We will only receive your application if you are an Iowa, Nebraska or South Dakota resident. All other applications will automatically go to your state representative. If you live in the states mentioned above, Please EMAIL US TO LET US KNOW YOU SUBMITTED APP SO WE CAN BE SURE IT IS RECEIVED. Adopters will need to visit dog in the foster home and transport home. We do NOT transport dogs for adoption. All members of the household will need to be present at meet and greet including dogs in the home. Our #1 goal is to find the best fit for each dog in our care so we will review all applications.June 20, 2025, 2:46 pm
