Ellie

My story

Ellie is a lovable, low energy 31 pound pit mix who thrives on attention and love. While she is tolerant of calm, respectful dogs around her size and dog-savvy cats, she would probably prefer to be your only pet because she craves attention and wants to be near her person all the time. She greets everyone with a wagging tail and soft eyes, and allows all handling. I was able to give her medicine when she was sick the day I picked her up from the shelter. Ellie would be OK with dog-savvy children 10 and up because of her rough-and-ready play style. She likes a calm, stable household with a routine and people at home with her. Ellie is house broken if kept on a very strict schedule. A fenced in grassy backyard is recommended where she can easily go potty and explore. She prefers short walks around the block. Ellie does not bark at noise outside the house, but may bark for attention. Ellie is very inquisitive and has been known to occasionally carry off and nibble a few items in the house like shoes, cardboard, and plastic items so she should be kept in a dog proofed crate or room while you are away. She likes bones, long lasting chews and durable toys. She is very food motivated, which will help with basic training. Due to her petite size and loving personality, Ellie is a gem and is sure to make her new family very happy.
