Hurricane Harriet incoming to steal your heart! Harriet is a 12-month-old, 6-pound female cat. She came to us from the NYCACC shelter as a stray kitten with a broken leg that needed amputation. But you’d never guess her rough beginnings from her big personality! Harriet love being around people, and her eyeliner is always on point! She loves following you around the house and will groggily get up from a nap to curl around your feet while you're trying to pee. She’s super chatty and always has something to say. Once, she even jumped into her foster mom's shower (and quickly regretted it)! She's the bravest kitten her foster mom has ever had, ready to escape the bathroom and go exploring almost immediately. Harriet might be on three legs but her foster mom constantly forgets she’s a tripod because she’s so speedy, Tokyo Drifting as she chases wand toys and clambers up onto wall mounted cat shelves. She's very playful and lets out big growls while kicking her wand toys to let you know how tough she is. Harriet is a special cat, and she has some street habits that still need ongoing training and boundary setting. Harriet is big on scent marking and brushing up against her people, and she’ll let you scoop her up and carry her around under an arm. However, petting must be done on her terms! She gets overstimulated quickly and can get nippy when she’s overexcited. Harriet would also do best in a home with another playful cat to release her energy in a healthy way. She’s very interested in the resident cat (her ranking is 1. Food, 2. Resident Cat (close second), 3. Foster Mom (distant third). Harriet's ideal person will be able to play regularly with wand and kicker toys to give her an outlet for play aggression and continue her training/setting firm boundaries with her (no playing with hands!) Luckily, Harriet is highly food motivated with a special fondness for Churus (she also is a fiend for dairy, once sticking her whole head into a glass of milk to try to get a whiff)! Her foster mom has trained her to “touch” and “sit” along with a preemptive “no biting” command! We’re working on teaching her to jump though a hoop :) It is strongly preferred that Harriet goes to a home with another playful cat but she also could be the one and only if her person dedicates a great deal of time for regular play to help give her the outlet she needs for her overstimulation. Vaccinated for FVRCP and rabies. FeLV / FIV negative, neutered, and microchipped. To apply for Harriet, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the animal is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable cat, or final size of any of our adoptable kittens. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the cat into our rescue. Adoptions: adopt@waggytailrescue.org ##2431039##
