My story

Meet Marley, a 1-year-old Lab mix who’s ready to start her new chapter! This sweet girl came to us from South Carolina, where her foster couldn’t say enough good things about her—she called Marley “absolutely perfect” and one of the best dogs she’s ever fostered. Marley is the total package: friendly, loving, and already knows “sit.” She’s fully house trained, loves everyone she meets, and has a gentle, steady presence that makes her easy to fall for. She recently raised a litter of puppies with incredible devotion and care, but now it’s her turn to be the one getting all the love and attention. If you're looking for a loyal, easygoing companion who’s just as happy on the couch as she is out for a walk, Marley might be your girl. She’s done her job as a mama—now she’s ready to be someone’s best friend. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
