My story

Meet Stacey, a 1-year-old Shih Tzu mix who’s all love and wiggles. This sweet girl came to us from our friends at Thomas J. O’Connor after being found as a stray. We don’t know anything about her past, but she’s made it clear she’s ready for a future full of love, cuddles, and companionship. Stacey is one of those dogs who falls in love with every person she meets—she’s friendly, affectionate, and always happy to be by your side. She can be a little barky when left alone, so apartment living might not be ideal unless your neighbors are pretty easygoing. Since we don’t have any history, we’re not sure how she is with kids, cats, or other dogs, and we also don’t know if she’s house trained. What we do know is that she’s an absolute sweetheart who’s eager to be part of a home where she won’t be left out of the action. If you’re looking for a loyal little sidekick with a big heart and even bigger charm, Stacey might just be your girl. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
