Meet Calista – Your New Brindle Bestie with CEO Energy! This 4-year-old, 25-pound brindle beauty with a big personality, a bigger heart, and a serious love for snacks, supervision, and snuggles. She joined the Freedom squad from San Diego Humane Society and has been an unforgettable presence ever since. From the moment she arrived, Calista made it clear she wasn’t just a foster dog—she was the CEO of Comfort and the Queen of Connection. She’s one of those dogs who makes you feel instantly chosen, because once she picks her person, she’s all in. Her foster dad is her entire world, and Calista is rarely more than an arm’s reach away, usually curled up on his chest or tucked tightly between his legs with her belly up and her eyes closed in complete contentment. Personality vibes: We lovingly call her the Velcro Queen because she will stick to you like glue. But don’t let her cuddly side fool you—Calista is also a total boss. She thrives on routine, enjoys being the one in charge, and is the ultimate yard supervisor. Whether it’s potty breaks or sunbathing sessions, she’s always checking in on the rest of the crew. When a puppy recently joined the rescue, Calista immediately stepped into a nurturing, watchful role—“momming” like she’d done it her whole life (which she most likely did). She’s a natural at making sure everyone’s okay, while also letting them know who’s really running the show (hint: it’s her). Calista coexists beautifully with other dogs, and while she doesn’t seek out playtime, she’s respectful and fair. The other dogs in her foster home seem to sense that she needs space to bond with her person, and they give it to her without a fuss. She communicates clearly, keeps to her routines, and loves to be in the know. We always say she’s a little bit of a control freak, but in the most charming way possible. We do not think she would do great with a dominant female but it is a possibility. Medical Endeavors: Medically, Calista is doing fantastic. When she arrived, she had ulcers in both eyes and was struggling to see more than shadows and bright lights. We immediately started her on steroid medicated drops, and the improvement has been nothing short of amazing. She now moves around with confidence, can see her surroundings, and has no issues navigating new spaces. Her eyes still have a bit of cloudiness, but it doesn’t hold her back in the slightest—if anything, it gives her a little extra sparkle to match her glow-up. She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is vet-cleared with no further medical concerns. Training quirks: Calista is fully potty trained, knows basic commands, and walks well on a leash. She’s also a great travel buddy, whether it’s a quick car ride or a weekend road trip. She enjoys being outside just as much as she loves being curled up next to you while you binge Hulu. She’s calm, observant, affectionate, and loves with her entire being. And let’s not forget—this girl takes her snacks very seriously. She’s a gourmet treat taster with an appreciation for anything edible and absolutely no shame about it. If you’re looking for a dog with depth, devotion, and a little diva supervisor energy, Calista might just be your soulmate. She needs a home where she can be loved unconditionally, where her snuggles are always welcome, and where she can continue to shine as the beautiful, strong, emotionally intelligent girl that she is. Calista is ready to meet her forever family. If you think you’re the one she’s been waiting for, apply now at freedomfrenchierescue.org. We can’t wait to see her thrive in a home where she’s cherished for exactly who she is: a bossy, snuggly, sparkling little queen. Adoption donation fee is $1025.00 and she is located in Scottsdale, AZ.
