My story

Rosie was dumped in the country where I live in Western New York with her friend Bo. They got into a Porcupine, it was bad. I trapped them and got them to a vet. Rosie was in very bad shape. Not only did she have quills in her face, but she had a very bad Uterus infection. The vet feared she would not make it. Well, it turns out she also had Lyme disease. Poor girl! She was adopted by a wonderful older couple, we guessed her age to at that time to be around 5 years old. Fast forward to a tone of antibiotics, spay surgery and time to heal and she is all better. She feels so much better she was too much for the couple to handle, so they returned her to the rescue where she can find a home better suited for her. Now that she has been on good food and is all better, we think she is more like 2 years old. Rosie is sweet and loves her person, but she is very high energy, likes to play all the time. She has stopped chewing on my shoes and she no longer jumps on me. She has learned to use the doggie door and spends most of her time outside playing with Trixie and the goat! Once she spent a few days running and playing working out her pent up energy, she is calmer and doing well. She would do best in a home with another younger dog she can play with and she needs a fenced yard or lots of property to play on. She doesn't run away, she knows where home is. My property is fenced, but I have noticed her going outside the gate when I am working on it and she comes right back in when I ask her to. She is afraid of strangers, gets very upset when I have the Amish boys here to help me work on things. I am not sure if it is because they are Amish or all strangers, I don't get much company. She doesn't show aggression, just avoidance.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Rosie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
