My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Moonbeam is a 2–3 year old Pekingese mix weighing just under 8 lbs, and according to his foster family, he’s “90 percent fluff” – soft, silky, and irresistible to cuddle. Don’t be fooled by his cloud-like appearance though: this little guy is both a diva and an athlete! He struts with confidence, loves to “dance” on his hind legs, and can zoom around the yard or park with surprising speed.   Moonbeam’s day starts around 6:00–6:30am, when he happily greets each family member as they come downstairs – often with kisses or by hopping into a lap. He spends his mornings tagging along with the kids, lounging nearby, or requesting snuggles before settling into his x-pen while the family is at work and school. He does well being left home alone for 6–7 hours, and when his people come home, he’s all wiggles, fluff, and joy.   Outings are a highlight for Moonbeam. He takes 2–3 walks a day at the park, where he shows off his great leash manners, occasional squirrel-chasing skills, and eagerness to meet new people and dogs. He’s playful and social – recently enjoying a long, bark-free play session with a puppy he met. He also loves running alongside the kids, playing chase, tug, and fetch, or even joining in a full game of tag (he cleverly knows when to switch between chasing and being chased!).   At home, Moonbeam is pure affection. Within days of arriving in foster care, he revealed his velcro-dog personality: if you’re around, he wants to be with you. Whether it’s curling up in your lap, wedging himself behind you in a chair, or scooting closer with his fluffy belly up for rubs, Moonbeam has no concept of “personal space.” He loves being carried, melts into cuddles, and never turns down attention.   Moonbeam is housetrained, sleeps peacefully through the night in his x-pen, and has already mastered “sit” and “come.” He’s very playful but also respectful when the family is busy, content to quietly observe until someone is ready for more snuggles.   His foster family says he’s the ultimate companion: happy, affectionate, silly, and endlessly soft. He’s wonderful with kids (ages 8–13 in foster), loves other dogs, and would thrive in a home where his people enjoy giving and receiving lots of love.   If you’re looking for a fluffy best friend who will bring joy, laughter, and endless cuddles to your days, Moonbeam may just be your perfect match.September 8, 2025, 3:50 pm
