My story

Kratos is a 2-year-old German Shepherd who was surrendered when his owner moved out of the country. He’s house trained, crate trained, and has done well with kids. Full of energy and brains, Kratos needs an active home that can keep up with him. He loves playing with other dogs but gets frustrated on leash when he can’t say hi—his bark is impressively loud, so apartment living may not be the best fit unless your neighbors are very understanding. Kratos will thrive with plenty of exercise, training, and mental stimulation. If you’re looking for a smart, playful companion to join you on adventures, Kratos could be the one! Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
