My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Origami – The Tiny Cuddlebug   At just 10–12 months old and 6.8 lbs, Origami is a delicate little Papillon mix who’s every bit as sweet and gentle as her name suggests. She may be small, but she’s overflowing with love and is happiest when snuggled close to her people.   Daily Routine   Origami starts her day around 8 AM with a walk and potty break— always after giving her foster a face full of kisses first! She nibbles at breakfast throughout the day, taking one kibble at a time, and then happily lounges nearby while her foster works. She often curls up on a pillow or even a backpack, but when she puts her paws on her foster’s leg, it’s her signal that she’s ready to tuck into a lap for a nap. In the evening, she enjoys another walk and plenty of cuddle time on the couch before going to bed around 10 or 11 in her crate, snoozing peacefully until morning.   Personality   Origami is a lap dog through and through— she thrives on human touch and wants nothing more than to curl up in a cozy ball against her person. When she first arrived, she was a little shy, but she quickly adapted and now follows her foster from room to room like a devoted shadow. She hasn’t yet ventured upstairs, but she’ll wait patiently at the bottom for her foster to return.   She’s calm, sweet, and sensitive, preferring quiet environments. Loud noises or sudden movements can startle her, so she’ll do best in a gentle, low-key home. And while she rarely makes a sound, she’s recently started to let out the cutest little squeaks when she’s excited or wants something.   Other Pets & Kids   Origami has spent time around a cat— she was curious and wanted to play, though the cat wasn’t interested. She likes saying hello to dogs on walks and could happily coexist with another small, calm pup, but she doesn’t need one in the home. With children, she’d do best in a family with older, respectful kids since she’s such a tiny, delicate pup who startles easily.   Playfulness & Energy   For now, Origami is mostly a lounger and cuddle bug. She has dabbled in playing with plush toys but is more interested in naps and companionship. As she grows more comfortable, she may become more playful, but her heart will always belong to cuddles.   Walks & Training   Origami walks well on leash and doesn’t pull. At first, she was nervous and stuck close to home, but now she’s more confident in quiet neighborhoods. She can get hesitant if faced with big sights and sounds— like bikes, construction, or busy traffic— and sometimes insists on choosing her own direction on walks. She doesn’t bark at other dogs, squirrels, or passersby, preferring a peaceful stroll.   She’s both housetrained and crate-trained. She may not walk into her crate voluntarily, but once inside, she settles quietly without whining.   Ideal Home   Origami’s dream home is one where she’ll be doted on, cuddled often, and treated with gentle care. A quiet household without small children is best, and she’ll thrive with people who will appreciate her delicate, sweet nature.   Why Adopt Origami?   Origami is the ultimate lap dog: affectionate, calm, and loyal. She doesn’t chew, dig, bark, or cause trouble. Instead, she offers endless love, companionship, and the cutest nap-time snuggles you could ask for.   A Foster’s Favorite   Her foster’s favorite thing? Origami’s tiny snores when she sleeps. She’ll look at you with droopy eyes as she nods off, then curl into the smallest little ball in your lap.
