Meet Chilli !! This sweet shy girl is looking for a family to feel safe with. She was saved from being euthanized in a shelter and is looking to make the most of her second change at life. Chilli is approx. 1 year old. She looks like a Cattle dog mix or maybe smaller hound mix. She is full grown at only 20 pounds. She looks smaller in person she is just solid. She has been given several sets of vaccines, dewormed, a microchip and spayed. We don’t know what happened to Chilli in the past but she is so shy with new people. Once she gets used to you and sees you are safe she becomes very loving. The first night she was here she was so afraid but the next morning she was tail waggin and happy to see us. She will need a lot of work with her confidence but she really wants to love. She has been giving her foster mom lots of kisses and follows her around now. She is your shadow once she trusts you. Chilli loves plush toys and chasing after a ball. She also enjoys roaming around the back yard and exploring. She doesn’t yet know how to play with people and toys but she will take all the toys you toss to her and go play by herself. She loves other dogs and having another dog helps her feel more confident. She has been submissive with meeting other dogs and then follows them around. She has not met any cats yet so we do not know how she would do. She has not had any trouble sharing food treats and toys. Chilli has not been around kids but we think she would do okay with kids that are old enough to give her time to come out of her shell. Even when afraid she has never been aggressive at all. She has done fantastic with her potty training. She did fine in the car and did not get sick. She will need more leash training. She is still afraid of new things so going out on the leash can be scary for her. She is great about her crate training. Chilli currently has a low energy level. This is likely due to her still being afraid. We would expect her to be a more energetic girl once she fully settles into a family and feels safe. During the first few days in a new place it is best to let her out in your yard on a long leash. She will run from you at first if you let her off the leash. Once she has a few days to see you are safe she is fine out in a fenced area off leash. Overall this pretty girl is super sweet just wants to be loved. She was let down by her previous owners and is looking for a family to be as loyal to her as she will be to them. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (She will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com or for more pics and faster response message the Facebook Page directly with questions or to get an application.‼️
