My story

Meet Handsome, the brown tabby. Handsome arrived to the Shelter as a stray. A good Samaritan said that this cat followed him home in the rain. They brought him into the house to stay warm and safe. He was easy for them to pick up and bring in. During his time at the Shelter, Handsome was a bit timid at first but eager for attention. Staff have observed that Handsome enjoys staring out the window of his kennel, being pet all over and lapping up Churu treats. Handsome is available for preadoption at this time – come meet him, fall in love and take him home after his neuter surgery. Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
